Techstars Got Me Kicked Off LinkedIn

My LinkedIn account was permanently restricted from posting and commenting after a coordinated effort by Techstars to report me. In a series of internal Slack messages that were later leaked, several members of the accelerator’s staff discussed how best to flag my activity, labeling me as “unhinged” and “relentless.” They explicitly stated that the goal was to have my account suspended, despite Techstars’ public promise to be founder‑friendly and to “give first.”
The thread shows that the decision wasn’t a spontaneous reaction to a single comment; it was a premeditated campaign. One employee wrote, “We need to get him locked down. He’s crossing the line and it’s hurting our brand.” Another replied, “Let’s make sure we all report his posts today – the more reports, the faster LinkedIn will act.” The language used is starkly at odds with the supportive, community‑driven image that Techstars markets to entrepreneurs worldwide.

What makes this especially troubling is that the content I was sharing was entirely within the bounds of LinkedIn’s community standards. I was posting candid reflections on the accelerator experience, pointing out inconsistencies between the public narrative and the reality on the ground, and asking fellow founders for advice on navigating similar challenges. Rather than engaging in a constructive dialogue, Techstars chose to silence me through a coordinated reporting blitz.
This episode raises serious questions about how accelerator programs handle criticism and dissent. If an organization that prides itself on mentorship and openness is willing to weaponize platform policies to silence a single voice, what does that say about the safety of speaking up for other founders in the ecosystem?
I’m sharing this story to alert other entrepreneurs: be aware that the very institutions that claim to champion founders can sometimes act in ways that contradict their stated values. Transparency and accountability are essential, and it’s up to the community to hold these programs to the standards they publicly espouse.
